Florence Foodie: Salumeria Verdi (Pino’s)

Officially called Salumeria Verdi, among study abroad students you are more likely to hear my favorite panino place referred to simply as “Pino’s,” a name affectionately given to the place due to its wonderful owner.

Pino. Florence, Italy.

Pino is legendary among generations of study abroad students.

I have been coming to Pino’s since I was a study abroad student last year, and spent a year dreaming about eating one of his famous panini yet again. Seriously, upon arriving back in Florence, my biggest priority was getting my hands on one of these sandwiches.

Not only is the food at Salumeria Verdi to die for, but Pino, his wife, and daughter are always there with a friendly smile ready to take your order. Even if you just go there a few times, Pino will remember you. I was shocked when I walked in a year after my month-long study abroad program and Pino knew exactly who I was.

You can tell by the taste that every panino is prepared with care. The bread is incredible, ingredients fresh, and the suggested panino options on the menu are amazing. The Springtime, Best, and the Pino are crowd favorites, but I usually prefer to order a custom made panino (I almost always get spicy salami, peppers, pesto, and peccorino cheese).

Panini. Florence, Italy.

I’m absolutely addicted! I probably have at least one per week.

If you are looking for the perfect panino place, look no further than Pino’s. The welcoming atmosphere, delectable food, and friendly staff are sure to keep you coming back for more. Additionally, a panino only costs around 4 Euro, which is perfect for a budget-conscious traveler or student.
