5 Must Try Vegan Eats In Florence
The Italian land of precious meats and cheeses can be quite overwhelming for a vegan. Fortunately, Europe has been making great strides towards the vegan lifestyle and Italy is no exception. Florence has a multitude of options from burgers to brunch and even gelato. The list could go on for quite a while (check out happycow.net to see more) but here’s a list of some of my favorites and what to order. Enjoy!
1. Le Vespe Cafe: 76 Via Ghibellina
Start off your day with brunch from Le Vespe, which serves vegan options such as a tofu scramble, juices, and smoothies (the avocado is my favorite.) I also love to grab a latte to go made with soy, rice, or almond milk whenever passing by.
2. Veg and Veg: Piazza del Mercato Centrale 4
On the second floor of Mercado Centrale, you’ll find a vegan/vegetarian stand with veggie burger options, a salad bar, and soup in bread bowls. This is a perfect option if you’re out with other non-vegans, as you can all grab food from different vendors and sit together at a table.
3. Miss Song Asian Fusion: Via dei Servi 103R
Who knew you could enjoy a great Japanese meal in Florence? Miss Song has edamame, veggie sushi, and spring rolls, but the best part is that they deliver- a rare finding in Firenze!
4. Shake Cafe: Via del Corso, 28/30/32 and Via degli Avelli, 2R
Shake Cafe is a fresh alternative to much of the rich and decadent food in the city with vegan wraps, salads, juices, and pastries like croissants. The smoothie bowls are delicious, filling, and come with several toppings.
5. Eduardo il Gelato Biologico: Piazza del Duomo, 45R
This organic gelato shop usually has some type of sorbet plus vegan flavors like chocolate and almond. The best thing to do here is order a vegan chocolate milkshake made with rice milk- to die for!
